Art Journaling and Mixed Media became my new loves a few years ago and I still keep journals (plural) for various purposes, although I’ve since branched out to painting and especially love working larger scale, I’m a loyal convert to the eclectic variety of mixed media and layers (never having to chose and having it all…double Gemini here!).

Expressive Art Journaling: Hope
The following journal pages were created with an initial layer of free form writing followed by watercolor, written word and image collage, and then final layers of acrylic paint and paint pen. The approach I used included mindfulness/somatic focus, active imagination and symbolic work.
Art Journal: Mixed Media
This and the following pages from one of my first mixed media art journals from when I was doing some amazing online courses, mainly with Tamara Laporte, Jane Davenport and Lally Mille, among others. I was revisiting portraits which is an original love of mine.
Front Cover
These are the front and back covers for the mixed media journal above. This is the first cover I’d put a lot of effort into so I’m pretty proud of it! ;) I should do more of them!

Art Journal: Inner Child Work with Watercolors and Mixed Media
This page and the following are from a journal that ended up being a way to work with my inner child, although I didn’t know that’s what it was going to be when I started. I had taken a class with Cynthia Hauk at Creative Mindful Muse so her mindful watercolor technique was very much alive in this journal combined with mixed media napkin and washi tape layering as well as left hand writing and dialoguing between inner child and nurturer parts. Fun and and also deep work.
